30-Year Government Veteran Recognized for Shaping Federal EA at the Hall of Fame's Inaugural Year
CHANTILLY, Va., Sept. 10, 2008 — Today Beverly Hacker, Citizant’s Principal Enterprise Architect and former Chief Architect at the U.S. Departments of Treasury and Housing and Urban Development (HUD), was recognized for her contribution in shaping Federal Enterprise Architecture (EA).
The 1105 Government Information Group and the Federated Enterprise Architecture Certification (FEAC) Institute launched the EA Hall of Fame this year to recognize current and former government employees who have advanced the EA discipline. Hacker is one of the first two individuals to be included in the Hall of Fame. Each year one individual who demonstrates leadership in EA practice and promotion will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“I am honored to be included in the inaugural year of the EA Hall of Fame,” commented Hacker. “Throughout my career, I have focused on actionable architecture to help agencies achieve their business missions and improve their service to the citizen. I have had the privilege of helping to evolve segment architecture in the IRS Modernization Vision and Strategy (MVS) process, create standard data forms for the grants.gov implementation at HUD, and ensure that HUD’s critical information systems produce the highest quality data. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the rapid advancement of results-oriented enterprise architecture practices during the last several years.”
Following more than 30 years of government service, Hacker joined Citizant, one of the Washington region’s leading providers of government professional technical solutions, in June 2008. Hacker is supporting the Department of Interior’s (DOI) strategy to promote enterprise-wide data sharing and exchange by focusing on the areas of data architecture and authoritative data sources (ADS). She has also collaborated with Citizant and DOI as part of the Federal Segment Architecture Working Group (FSAWG). FSAWG’s goal is to establish a consistent approach to developing and using segment architecture that is applicable government-wide.
Hacker joined Citizant following her retirement from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Previously, she was the Chief Architect at the U.S. Departments of Treasury and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Hacker succeeded HUD veteran and former OMB Chief Architect Dick Burk as the HUD Chief Architect. During her tenure as Chief Architect, HUD was rated as meeting 94 percent of the Enterprise Architecture Assessment Framework (EAAF) 1.1 requirements for EA practices, making it second only to the Department of Interior (DOI) in that ranking.
“Beverly has been instrumental in advancing the movement towards actionable EA and we are proud that she is one of the first inductees into the EA Hall of Fame,” said Alba M. Alemán, president and co-founder of Citizant. “From information standards to data quality and business process modeling, Hacker’s fingerprints can be found throughout the evolution of the federal enterprise architecture.”
