Citizant Earns CMMI Maturity LeveL 3 Rating

Prestigious Certification Helps Sharpen Company’s Competitive Edge in
Federal IT Marketplace

CHANTILLY, Va., Oct. 29, 2008 — Citizant is proud to announce that it has achieved the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level (ML) 3 rating. This rating has become a requirement for many government software development programs. Citizant is now among the elite group of small businesses in the federal marketplace to be independently appraised at CMMI ML 3.

Citizant, one of the Washington region’s leading providers of government professional technical solutions, attained the CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating following a successful Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) appraisal.

“Citizant is a living testimony to the high levels of customer satisfaction that can be created by bringing together smart, talented professionals with industry-leading quality processes and management disciplines,” said Alba M. Alemán, president and co-founder of Citizant. “Government agencies are increasingly seeking out CMMI appraised partners, yet fewer than a dozen small businesses have this quality rating. Citizant has a strong quality and program management culture and we are pleased to be adding another competitive differentiator to our list of qualifications. I am a firm believer in the industry’s responsibility to invest in the maturation of their business practices to ensure the success of their customers.”

“Pursuing our CMMI ML3 rating was one of our key corporate initiatives in 2008. As a result of the disciplined teamwork of Citizant professionals, we accomplished in 10 months, what the industry defines as an 18 month effort. I want to personally thank all of our employees, who under the leadership of quality expert Collette Dziemian, worked so diligently to reach this important milestone,” continued Alemán.

CMMI Maturity Level 3 means that an organization has a common set of defined and documented standard processes used across the entire company and subject to continuous analysis and selective improvements. The key implication of certification at this level is repeatability, predictability, and consistent performance in the methods and results of our work. The process capability delivers many benefits for customers including earlier and more effective resolutions of potential defects or variances in project progress against plan.

A team of auditors led by Frances Soskins, an independent, SEI-authorized lead appraiser conducted the appraisal. The team spent hundreds of hours examining many types of evidence and interviewing program leaders, corporate executives, and project practitioners to confirm that standard processes are being followed in 18 process areas, including project management, engineering, and project support functions.

Currently, dozens of Citizant’s professionals who work on projects with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Transportation Command, Florida Department of Transportation, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development have integrated new process models created during the company’s CMMI ML3 effort into the daily flow of their program work.

To meet its company objective of creating a better future for the citizen, Citizant invests heavily in the systems and processes needed to achieve success now and in the future. The company’s mature infrastructure is reflected by its ISO 9001:2000 certification and its independent appraisal at SEI CMMI Maturity Level 3. The company’s Monthly Program Management Reviews were cited as a “Best Practice” by SEI during Citizant’s CMMI ML 2 appraisal. Additionally, Citizant has developed the Citizant Process Management Methodology (CPMM) to successfully manage programs throughout their entire lifecycle.
